Some variable values don't work when inside IF conditions

The dateformat function does not work inside an if condition.
Example:
This works: %{if (1) {'${Created}'}}
This does not: %{if (1) {'${dateformat("dd/MM/yyyy"):Created}'}}

The problem also happens when using Xporter if condition (in single line) with complex variable names:
This works: ${JQLIssues[j].TRIP: Advance report row document date}
This does not: #{if (%{true})} "${JQLIssues[j].TRIP: Advance report row document date}" #{end}
