Description
Description
When a Scheduled Report's JQL returns zero issues, any filename mapping that uses the dateformat function resolves to an empty string. The same configuration resolves correctly when the JQL returns issues. CurrentDate itself does resolve on empty runs; only the dateformat function returns empty.
Pre-conditions
- A JQL query that returns no issues (e.g. project = TEST AND summary ~ "zzzznomatch")
How to reproduce
- Go to Administration > Manage apps > Xporter > Scheduled Reports and click Add.
- Set Export Data to JQL and use the query from the pre-conditions.
- Set the filename to ${dateformat("yyyy-MM-dd"):CurrentDate} EmptyTest.
- Add a "Save on Jira host" action, enable the report and let it run.
Actual result/Attachments
The file is saved as EmptyTest.xlsx, the date is missing and the name starts with a space.
| Filename mapping | Issues returned | Output filename |
|---|---|---|
| ${dateformat("yyyy-MM-dd"):CurrentDate} | 16 | 2026-09-25 EmptyTest.xlsx |
| ${dateformat("yyyy-MM-dd"):CurrentDate} | 0 | EmptyTest.xlsx |
| ${dateformat("yyyy-MM-dd"):CurrentDateTime} | 0 | EmptyTest.xlsx |
| ${CurrentDate} | 0 | 2026-09-25T14_40_00.153Z[Etc_UTC] EmptyTest.xlsx |
Expected result
The file is saved as 2026-09-25 EmptyTest.xlsx, the same as when the JQL returns issues.
Version
- Jira DC 9.12.22
- Xporter DC 7.4.9
Workaround
- Use ${CurrentDate} without dateformat. The date is kept, but it comes out as a raw timestamp with the server timezone appended.
- If the empty files aren't needed, enable the Condition option so the report only runs when the JQL returns at least one issue.
