Wiki Markup Issue during export

It appears that the wiki markup is being rendered in the browser absolutely fine but when exporting with Word or PDF the markup is not being displayed as end user expects it to be. As an example the headers, numbered lists, and nested numbered list are exported into PDF/Word with H1, #, or ##. Please refer to the attached Story 1.jpg or Story 2.jpg as the original formatting after applying the markup,. And the AB-1.docx with the results of the export (issues are marked with red).

I am referencing field in the following way:

${JQLIssues[i].Pre-Conditions}
${JQLIssues[i].Post-Conditions}
${JQLIssues[i].Trigger}
${JQLIssues[i].Flow}
${JQLIssues[i].Description}

Am I doing something wrong here.
