    Description

We we would like to have the possibility to update test steps during a run. (I.e – the copy of the steps involved in the run.) Most importantly these functions:

      • Text editing (plain or wiki markup) of all fields in all steps, regardless of the step's run status. Text editing should not lead to a reset of the step status or any loss of run evidence
      • Possibility to add new steps to the test
      • Possibility to reorder steps

The changed version of the test (steps) must be stored on the Run. There should also be an option to promote the changes on to the original Test.

Background / use case for the request:
Manual testers commonly discover errors or flaws in their test scripts during testing. Half-way through executing a test, one may find that a step field contains incorrect information, or that there is a need to add another Test Step. Presently, Xray has not much to offer the user in this situation - only cumbersome workarounds. We believe a feature like this would add great value to the tool.
