Requirement Status not updated correctly when issuelinks are updated through REST API

One of my users is working with the Overall Requirement Coverage gadget in Jira. Her refers to requirements which are properly linked via the "tested by" link. Unfortunately the Requirement Status field is not accurately calculated.
It may be worth to mention that the user links the executed tests via "update":

JSON method. Can it be that the Requirement Status field is not updated when executed tests are linked to the requirement via REST, after they have been executed (and not being executed first and then linked)?
