Unable to update the Step result with a custom status via REST API

When updating the Step result status with a custom status, we get the following error:

PUT api/testrun/{id}/step/{stepResultId}/status?status=SKIP

-> The Status with name SKIP was not found.

Although the custom status exists in the Test Step Statuses configuration.
