    Description

Problem Statement - Storage management in Xray is exclusively accessible to Jira Administrators. In enterprise environments, Jira Admin rights are typically restricted to a small IT or platform team, separate from the teams who actually own and operate Xray on a day-to-day basis.

This means that Xray Administrators or Space Administrators, who have the contextual knowledge of how storage is being used within their teams or spaces, have no way to act on storage issues independently.

The friction occurs at the point where a storage limit is approaching or a cleanup is needed. The Xray-knowledgeable user cannot act, and the Jira Admin who can act lacks the product context to do so effectively. This creates delays and unnecessary dependency on IT-level permissions for what is essentially an application-level task.

Impact - Resolving this would reduce operational bottlenecks for enterprise customers with segregated admin roles, improve responsiveness to storage issues, and reduce the administrative burden on Jira Admins who are asked to act on Xray-specific concerns they may not fully understand.

This is most acutely felt in large Enterprise accounts where role segregation is enforced by policy, and the impact recurs whenever storage thresholds are approached or periodic cleanup is required.

How is the user solving it right now? - Currently, customers must escalate storage management tasks to a Jira Administrator, who may not be embedded in the Xray-using team. The workaround is extracting a csv of the current usage to parse the information outside the platform and then communicate the actions to Jira Admin.
