Description
Description
As a user, I would like a button that allows me to preview the CSV file before importing it into a dataset, as well as to have the possibility to copy/edit options with similar functionality (using arrows in navigation, copying cells by drag and drop, etc.) as it is in an Excel spreadsheet.
User friction
Steps to reproduce (right now) / Actual Result:
- Create a CSV file intended for import into a dataset.
- Navigate to a test and select the Manual option.
- Click on Dataset and choose Import.
- Upload the CSV file.
Actual Result:
There is no option available to preview the dataset before completing the import
IMPACT
What would improve if solved:
Users would be able to validate the contents and structure of the CSV file before importing, reducing errors and improving data accuracy.
Impact on stakeholders:
Testers and data managers may import incorrect or malformed data, leading to rework, delays, and potential inconsistencies in Dataset.
Current workaround:
Users must open, verify, and edit the CSV file externally before importing it into the Dataset.
CONTEXT & EXAMPLES:
Concrete example:
A user uploads a CSV file with incorrect column formatting but only discovers the issue after import, requiring them to fix the file and repeat the process.
Workaround risk:
Manual pre-validation outside the system increases the risk of overlooking errors, leading to faulty data imports and additional rework.
