      Description

As a user, I want the Label field to be available for Test Steps so that I can categorize, organize, and reuse test steps more efficiently.

      User friction

Currently, the Label field is not available when creating or editing Test Steps.

Steps to reproduce (right now) / Actual Result:

      1. Create or edit a Test.
      2. Add or create a Test Step.
      3. Review the available fields for the Test Step.
      4. The Label field is not available.

Actual Result: Users cannot assign labels to Test Steps directly while creating or editing them.

      IMPACT

The current limitation creates additional manual effort, especially for teams managing a large number of reusable Test Steps. It also makes the Test Step management process less efficient and increases the likelihood that labels will be missed or applied inconsistently.

      What would improve if solved:

Adding the Label field directly to Test Steps would allow users to assign labels at the point of creation or editing. This would make Test Step organization faster, more consistent, and easier to maintain.

      Impact on stakeholders:

      • Testers: Reduced manual effort when creating and organizing Test Steps.
      • QA teams: Improved consistency in Test Step categorization.
      • Test managers: Easier management and reuse of Test Steps across projects and test cases.
      • Organizations with large test repositories: Better scalability and maintainability of Test Step libraries.

      Current workaround:

Users must first create the Test Step and then locate it in the Test Step/Manual Steps Library to add the required labels. If the step needs to be reused, users may need to re-import or manage it through the library.

      CONTEXT & EXAMPLES:

The Label field is particularly useful for teams that maintain a large Manual Steps Library and use labels to categorize steps

      Concrete example:

      Workaround risk:

The additional steps increase the risk of users forgetting to add labels or applying inconsistent labels. Over time, this can make the Test Step Library harder to search, filter, organize, and reuse.
