Test Details panel shows "Internal Server Error" when a Test belongs to several large Test Plans - Test Plans details request exceeds the Forge 25 s limit

Description

The Test Plans section of the Test Details panel retrieves the consolidated status of every Test Plan the Test belongs to in a single request, POST /api/internal/report/testplans/details, sending all the testPlanIssueIds at once.

The consolidated status of a Test Plan is calculated by aggregating the results of all the Tests it contains, so the duration of this request grows with the number of plans and with their size. When it exceeds the 25-second limit that Atlassian's Forge platform allows for a remote invocation, the gateway cancels it with "Remote invocation timed out after 25 seconds" (TIMEOUT_ERROR), and the panel displays "Internal Server Error" instead of the Test Plans list.

Pre-conditions

• Xray Cloud project with several Test Plans containing many Tests each, with multiple Test Executions per plan.
• A Test that belongs to several of those Test Plans.

How to reproduce

1. Create several Test Plans with a few thousand Tests each, with several Test Executions per plan covering those Tests.
2. Add one Test to all Test Plans.
3. Open that Test and expand the Test Details section, then the Test Plans tab.

Tested with:

• 1 Test belonging to 10 Test Plans
• Each Test Plan containing 28,000 Tests
• 3 Test Executions per plan covering every Test

Actual result/Attachments

• The request runs for about 25 seconds and is cancelled by Atlassian's gateway: response success: false, "Remote invocation timed out after 25 seconds", errorType TIMEOUT_ERROR. The Test Details panel displays "Internal Server Error".

Expected result

The Test Plans section of the Test Details panel loads for Tests that belong to large Test Plans.
